Dr. Harvey Fineberg, chairman of a committee with the National Academy of Sciences wrote in a letter that the virus can be spread through normal talking and breathing. "While the current [coronavirus] specific research is limited, the results of available studies are consistent with aerosolization of virus from normal breathing," he wrote in his letter. This makes social distancing and shelter in place recommendations even more important, especially when considering a visit to your doctor - those on the frontlines of the pandemic.
Doctors and nurses play a special role in the fight against COVID-19. They are working to improve the health of those who contract the virus, while also trying to provide a level of care for patients who have other ailments or who are just concerned and are looking for guidance. The CDC recommends in their ‘Steps Healthcare Facilities Can Take Now to Prepare for Coronavirus Disease 2019,’ for practices to “Consider the strategies to prevent patients who can be cared for at home from coming to your facility potentially exposing themselves or others to germs, by:
Using your telephone system to deliver messages to incoming callers about when to seek medical care at your facility, when to seek emergency care, and where to go for information about caring for a person with COVID at home.”
Doing our part
Today Inbox Health is announcing a new tool for practices, and the medical billers that support them, to send emails, texts, or both to their patient population. This will allow medical professionals to get urgent messages out to their patients to reduce office visits during this time. It will also allow medical billers to get billing updates out quickly and securely to reduce confusion and increase cash-flow when future revenue is uncertain for many medical professionals.
What makes this tool special is that there is no need for any special group creation, csv file downloads, or template build. Inbox Health’s patient integration allows for seamless messaging straight from our platform.
Our intuitive user interface allows Medical Billers, doctors and staff to quickly spin up a message in minutes and decide which practices should receive the message.
Additional features include:
Messages based on date of service
Ability to send text, email or both - at the same time
Schedule a day for messages to be sent
Send a different message for each practice, or the same for all
Keep track of all messages sent in an easy to read platform
